AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP)

What is ADAP?

The AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) of California is designed to provide life saving and life sustaining medications to California residents living with HIV who cannot otherwise afford them.

Eligibility: 

• must be a California resident
• 18 years or older
• have an HIV diagnosis
• have an annual income of less than $50,000
• have limited or no prescription benefits from another insurance

You may also be eligible if you are a Medi-Cal beneficiary with share-of-cost expenses, and/or Medicare beneficiary with share-of-cost expenses.

How and Where to Enroll in ADAP?

To enroll in ADAP California for the first time or to re-certify your ADAP (due each year on your birth date), you must have the following documents:

• Current income documentation or financial support affidavit
• Proof of California residency
• Photo Identification
• Proof of HIV diagnosis
• Health insurance card (if insured)

All clients will need to complete a Medi-cal Eligibility Assessment in order to determine if they may be eligible for Medi-Cal benefits.
